2:30 pm - 6:30 pm Monday - Friday
Daily Itinerary
3:00 - 3:30 Recess (Snack Provided)
3:35 - 4:45 ASSIST (Accelerated Study Sessions Including Scholars Talk) - this is where students will do their homework with assistance, ask questions and tutoring is provided where needed.
4:45 - 6:00 Genius’ Hour- this is where scholars will do activities, including but not limited to, team building exercises, relationship strategies and mentorship where needed, etc.
6:00 - 6:25 - Group discussions
6:30 - Dismissal
Being part of a group can help young people develop important personal and interpersonal skills. These include the ability to think critically and solve problems, and the assumption of personal and group responsibility. Youth should be educated about finances early in life and at pivotal points in their development and financial lives. Having a higher financial literacy early in life is associated with: Reduced probability of borrowing with payday loans. Shift to lower costs student loans from other types of borrowing. Some common financial mistakes that young adults make include high credit card debt, a lack of financial literacy that leads to poor budget choices and a lack of savings, not having an emergency fund, not addressing financial struggles, and not planning for the future. Training & mentoring male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, leadership, help us ensure that all male youth have access to quality training and resources. We at KCS offer male youth a community of mentors and role models who listens, encourages, and empower them.
Our mentoring programs provide girls access to people, places, and things outside their routine environment. Girls are exposed to new experiences that enable them to discover their own strengths and thrive. Girls are also given the opportunity to take the lead in goal-setting and decision-making.
Team-building activities can take a variety of forms depending on the goals for youth. Our program is designed to foster relationship building while other activities are made to develop a specific skill in a fun way. Exceptional Day Out for parents will allow parents/guardians to enjoy the "me" time that is needed to shop, do laundry, appointments or just to take a moment for self-care. What makes this program even more exceptional is, it caters to our "Exceptional Youth." Because we will provide, breakfast and lunch, and engage in activities, there is a fee of $55.00 per youth for this service. The hours are 8am-2pm twice a month on Saturdays.
